Project structure and organisation

SEBco enables medium-sized cities to become motors for regional development in the South Baltic Arc. Their regional and international cooperation is crucial in this context.

14 partners from Germany, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Russia (see Project Partners) work together within five work packages:

  • Work package 1: New city-suburban alliances
  • Work package 2: Large-scale industrial areas
  • Work package 3: Accessibility of medium-sized cities
  • Work package 4: Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as motors of internationalisation
  • Work package 5: Networks of knowledge

The work packages 1-4 are content-oriented, whereas work package 5 serves as an "umbrella" with the task to link the activities and to create a network for exchange and dissemination of knowledge.

For further information about the activities within the work packages please have a look at the menu item activities!

Project Management

The Ministry for Transport, Building and Regional Development Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Germany) acts as Lead Partner of SEBco and is responsible for the overall project coordination. It is supported by Landgesellschaft Mecklenburg-Vorpommern mbH (Germany), which hosts the project secretariat and for the Tacis component by Sustainable Projects (see contacts). Additionally, individual project partners perform the thematic lead of the different work packages, supported in day-to-day management by the project secretariat.

Funding

The project is implemented within the framework of the Baltic Sea Region INTERREG IIIB Neighbourhood Programme of the European Union. The contents of "SEBco" contribute to the programme priority 1 "Promotion of spatial development approaches and actions for specific territories and sectors".The spatial and thematic scope of the project essentially involves measures in Russia. Therefore, "SEBco" does not only include ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) cofinanced activities on EU-territory, but integrates complementary efforts financed by Tacis (Technical Assistance to the Commonwealth of Independent States) funds of the EU.

The total project budget amounts to 862.500 EUR. Within the cofinancing from the INTERREG IIIB Neighbourhood Programme, 519.375 EUR are financed from ERDF and 153.000 EUR from Tacis. The remaining amount is contributed by the involved project partners.
